FAQ

What can be done to increase your immune system's effectiveness?

The human body consists of trillions of cells. These cells work together to form organs and tissues that perform specific functions. A cell that dies will be replaced by another. The chemical signals known as hormones are used to communicate between cells. Hormones regulate all bodily functions from growth and developmental to metabolism and immunity.

Hormones can be described as chemicals produced by glands in the body. They circulate through the blood stream and act as messengers to regulate how our bodies function. Some hormones can be produced in the body, while others may be made outside.

The hormone-producing glands release their contents into bloodstream. This is when hormone production starts. Once hormones have been released, they travel through the body until reaching their target organ. In some cases, hormones remain active only for a short period of time. Others hormones remain active longer and still have an influence on the body's functioning long after they leave bloodstream.
